November 11, 2006 - Offering the same well-known brand but with a new access number for its service, PLDT's Budget Card was launched at GMA 7's noon time show, Eat Bulaga. This VOIP service of PLDT is made possible through the partnership of PLDT and Infocom Technologies Incorporated. PLDT provides the subscriber base, PSTN network, marketing, and the termination of calls internationally. Infocom, on the other hand, provides the pre-paid and interactive voice response (IVR) system, which responds to the users of Budget Card when they access the service. Infocom also provides PLDT with a web-based customer management system that is designed specifically for the needs of PLDT customers. The system allows PLDT's 171 contact center to view card details and calls made on each card.S
This project has also brought so much benefit to both parties. It allowed Infocom to pursue its new direction of being a technology enabler. For PLDT, it has created additional savings since it no longer has to pay an external party for prepaid and international termination services. It has also given PLDT more control of the product as well as a faster response time since Infocom is both a local company as well as a subsidiary. The web-based customer management system also allows more people in 171 to have immediate access to Budget Card information, which in turn reduces the turn-around time in assisting Budget Card. This partnership has really become advantageous for both parties and has once again proven the possibility of fusing technology towards improved customer service. |
